The Ravens did not so much draft Vincent Anthony Jr. as overpay for him, 54 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Jones. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 14 they get a red-zone target to build around at fair value.
Emmanuel Pregnon at the 45th pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Antonio Williams at slot 80 is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Logan Jones in pick 115 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Nothing to complain about; Skyler Gill-Howard went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Charles Demmings is a better player than Round 5, Pick 22 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A wild overpay on Eric McAlister in slot 173, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Value said wait; Vincent Anthony Jr. in Round 5, Pick 34 says they were not listening. The roster fit checks out.
A tidy little value on Le'Veon Moss in the Round 6 slot, a step better than break-even. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
No edge and no loss on Jack Kelly in the 250th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Tristan Leigh in pick 253 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
