Somebody in pick No. 167 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Texans sat still while Maxwell Hairston, the No. 76 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
They are betting Robinson proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a true top target, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They let Xavier Watts come to them and pounced at slot 58. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Value said wait; Ty Robinson in the 89th pick says they were not listening. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jared Wilson at No. 127 is the proof. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Maxwell Hairston in the 167th overall pick, plain and simple. A minor itch, scratched.
Cam Jackson in pick 243 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
