The phones were a trap the Dolphins kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal.
Jones at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. They will need Limmer to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
Kiran Amegadjie in the Round 3 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
No edge and no loss on Zak Zinter in the 93rd pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Max Melton in pick No. 111 is fair value, right on his grade. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A quiet steal in Round 4, Pick 34: Darius Robinson for less than the market said. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Beaux Limmer in slot 135 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A need, and now a little less of one.
Edefuan Ulofoshio at the 158th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
Brennan Jackson at the 186th pick is money in the bank, a edge rusher taken below his worth. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They barely believed it either: Javon Baker still on the board at pick No. 199. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They did well to land Jalen Green in Round 6, Pick 44, just ahead of his grade. A minor itch, scratched.
They robbed the room for Sheridan Jones here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
