Baltimore Ravens

A respectable, level-headed haul for the Ravens: B-.

The Ravens spent real capital to be 63 picks early on Wesley Williams, and the board is going to hold them to it.

They banked enough surplus on Bell to cover a lot of smaller sins. A whole weekend of picks and running back is somehow still a want. With running back, quarterback and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on linebacker is the choice that costs them.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.14 · Pick 14 · Arvell Reese · LB · rank 7
In the Round 1 slot they get the heartbeat of the defense at fair value. Need was not the driver here.
R2.13 · Pick 45 · Sonny Styles · LB · rank 21
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Sonny Styles at linebacker with running back, quarterback and other spots open.
R3.16 · Pick 80 · Chris Bell · WR · rank 40
You do not let a wide receiver like Chris Bell reach No. 80 and blink. They did not. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R4.15 · Pick 115 · Keylan Rutledge · OG · rank 114
A straight-up fair deal on Keylan Rutledge at slot 115, value and slot in agreement. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R5.14 · Pick 154 · J.C. Davis · OT · rank 138
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and J.C. Davis at the 154th overall pick is the proof. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R5.22 · Pick 162 · Febechi Nwaiwu · OG · rank 173
Febechi Nwaiwu at Round 5, Pick 22 is a conviction pick that outran the value. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R5.33 · Pick 173 · Skyler Gill-Howard · DT · rank 150
The board fumbled Skyler Gill-Howard all the way to the Round 5 slot, and they scooped it up. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R5.34 · Pick 174 · Ephesians Prysock · CB · rank 187
A premium they did not need to pay, Ephesians Prysock a notch or two before his time. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R6.30 · Pick 211 · Aaron Graves · DT · rank 199
Aaron Graves slipping to pick No. 211 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R7.34 · Pick 250 · Wesley Williams · DE-EDGE · rank 313
Wesley Williams in the 250th overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The roster fit checks out.
R7.37 · Pick 253 · Jerry Wilson · CB · rank 260
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jerry Wilson. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
