The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Jalen Milroe, pick No. 171, roughly 140 picks past where he belonged.
The Collins reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. They punted on tight end, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 16th overall pick they get a run-stuffing presence up front at fair value. A real need, handled.
A linebacker of that caliber at No. 47 is the definition of value, full stop. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Devin Neal in the 78th pick. It fills a real need, too.
Dylan Fairchild at pick 117 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Nic Anderson in Round 5, Pick 13 is fair value, right on his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Logan Brown in slot 153 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Joey Slackman this early at the Round 5 slot. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They talked themselves into T.J. Sanders at pick No. 170, and the board did not agree. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Steal is underselling it; Jalen Milroe at pick 171 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The roster fit checks out.
The board fumbled Jonah Coleman all the way to the 189th overall pick, and they scooped it up. A need, and now a little less of one.
Alfred Collins at No. 208 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They paid sticker price for Denver Harris in Round 7, Pick 13, and that is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
