Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys cashed the board's mistake on Neal: A-.

The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Cowboys watched Devin Neal slide 106 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. They executed a plan and it shows in the A-.

They are betting Toia proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The cornerback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Tyler Allgeier deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.

A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly.

Bottom line, with Shemar Stewart leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.27 · Pick 27 · Shemar Stewart · DE-EDGE · rank 17
In the 27th pick they get a disruptor off the edge at a price that makes it sweeter. Need was not the driver here.
R2.12 · Pick 44 · Omarion Hampton · RB · rank 30
Omarion Hampton at the Round 2 slot is money in the bank, a running back taken below his worth. It fills a real need, too.
R2.27 · Pick 59 · Jalon Walker · LB · rank 20
They will replay Jalon Walker at Round 2, Pick 27 for years; that is how good the value is. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R3.12 · Pick 76 · Jalen Royals · WR · rank 63
Jalen Royals is a better player than the 76th overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R4.15 · Pick 116 · TreVeyon Henderson · RB · rank 55
Circle this one: TreVeyon Henderson at pick 116 is a fall that decides a draft. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R4.30 · Pick 131 · Joshua Farmer · DT · rank 118
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Joshua Farmer in No. 131. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R5.13 · Pick 150 · Jake Majors · C · rank 107
A offensive lineman of that caliber at slot 150 is the definition of value, full stop. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R5.37 · Pick 174 · Jared Wilson · C · rank 108
Taking Jared Wilson in pick No. 174 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R5.38 · Pick 175 · Smael Mondon Jr. · LB · rank 110
You do not let a linebacker like Smael Mondon Jr. reach the 175th pick and blink. They did not. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R6.15 · Pick 190 · Devin Neal · RB · rank 84
Steal is underselling it; Devin Neal at No. 190 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R7.33 · Pick 249 · Jay Toia · DL · rank 328
Value said wait; Jay Toia in Round 7, Pick 33 says they were not listening. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
