When a board-topper like Kyle McCord slides to the 174th pick, you do not overthink it, and the Cowboys did not. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
They will regret leaving wide receiver for another day if the season turns on it. Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 12th overall pick they get a three-down runner, and a steal at that. A real need, handled.
They let Omarion Hampton come to them and pounced at the 44th pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
Somehow Alfred Collins was still sitting there in Round 3, Pick 12, and they pounced on premier interior defensive lineman value. It fills a real need, too.
Kobe King in slot 150 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Emery Jones Jr. in pick No. 170, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Cobee Bryant at the Round 5 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Kyle McCord in pick 174 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
