Every other box got a look, but interior defensive lineman did not. The Eagles will head to camp with the same hole they walked in with. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
The Jacobs pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Barner.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get juice off the edge, outstanding value to boot. Exactly the need they had to hit.
No edge and no loss on T.J. Tampa in No. 50; it is a wash and a sensible one. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at Round 2, Pick 21 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A minor itch, scratched.
They paid sticker price for Brenden Rice in the 97th pick, and that is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Malik Mustapha at pick 160 is the proof. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
AJ Barner in the 170th overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It fills a real need, too.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Layden Robinson. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Curtis Jacobs at pick No. 178 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Joe Milton III in pick 189 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A need, and now a little less of one.
