The needs board said one thing and the Eagles did another, using the Round 3 slot on Javon Solomon while edge rusher, interior defensive lineman and other spots waited.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. The Solomon reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 22 they get a ballhawk on the outside. The biggest hole, addressed.
Javon Bullard at the 50th pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in Round 2, Pick 21 is fair value, right on his grade. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A curious use of pick No. 97. Edge rusher, interior defensive lineman and other spots needed the pick; an OLB-EDGE in Javon Solomon did not.
They paid sticker price for Jaheim Bell in No. 160, and that is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.

They paid a round early for Joe Milton III in the 189th overall pick, more than the board wanted. The roster fit checks out.
A straight-up fair deal on Jordan Magee at pick 240, value and slot in agreement. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
