The Packers spent real capital to be 33 picks early on Braelon Allen, and the board is going to hold them to it. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
That Watts pick is the receipt they will wave around later. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 25 they get a sticky cover corner. The biggest hole, addressed.
A quiet steal in Round 2, Pick 9: Tyler Nubin for less than the market said. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
They took T'Vondre Sweat at par in pick 57, which is nothing to complain about. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
The board had Christian Mahogany higher than pick No. 88, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Marist Liufau in the 91st overall pick. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Value said wait; Braelon Allen in the 126th pick says they were not listening. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Renardo Green is a better player than No. 168 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Daijahn Anthony at the 203rd overall pick is the proof. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Value with a capital V on Christian Jones in Round 6, Pick 41, a genuine coup. It fills a real need, too.
Nice patience on Isaiah Neyor, who had no business lasting to pick 243. A need, and now a little less of one.
Ryan Watts in the Round 7 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
