The board owed the 49ers one, and it paid up: Connor Lew, the No. 82 name on the board, sitting there at slot 127 like a gift left on the doorstep. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Llewellyn reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with offensive lineman chief among the fixes.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a cornerstone up front. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A conviction pick on Chase Bisontis at the 58th overall pick that the board grades a round light. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Steal is underselling it; Connor Lew at pick 127 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Max Llewellyn at slot 133 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A slide stopped in No. 138, with Jack Endries worth more than the price. A need, and now a little less of one.
The board had Jude Bowry higher than Round 4, Pick 39, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
