The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Browns reached some 34 spots for Trey Moore, and value like that does not grow back. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
The Schrauth steal is the beam this whole class leans on. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
On the needs board they went 6 of 9, with edge rusher the one that mattered most.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 6 they get a home-run threat at receiver at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
In No. 24 they get a building block for the line at a price that makes it sweeter. A real need, handled.
The board had Colton Hood higher than pick 39, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Derrick Moore at slot 70. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Gracen Halton. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Trey Moore at the 146th overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Billy Schrauth in Round 5, Pick 9, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
You do not let a running back like Seth McGowan reach slot 206 and blink. They did not. A need, and now a little less of one.
A premium they did not need to pay, Jack Kelly a notch or two before his time. A minor itch, scratched.
