Tampa Bay Buccaneers

More right than wrong for the Buccaneers, and a B- to prove it.

The Buccaneers looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Mitchell Melton at slot 195 regardless, 207 picks early.

The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Canady value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.

Tight end is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.15 · Pick 15 · Kenyon Sadiq · TE · rank 19
In the Round 1 slot they get a mismatch in the passing game at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
R2.14 · Pick 46 · Anthony Hill Jr. · LB · rank 38
They read the board right and Anthony Hill Jr. was the payoff at slot 46. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R3.13 · Pick 77 · Malachi Lawrence · DE-EDGE · rank 71
Malachi Lawrence at No. 77 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R4.16 · Pick 116 · De'Zhaun Stribling · WR · rank 111
Nothing to complain about; De'Zhaun Stribling went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It fills a real need, too.
R5.15 · Pick 155 · Jakobe Thomas · S · rank 141
A slide stopped in Round 5, Pick 15, with Jakobe Thomas worth more than the price. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R6.14 · Pick 195 · Mitchell Melton · LB-EDGE · rank 402
They reached a country mile for Mitchell Melton at pick 195, and the board is aghast. The roster fit checks out.
R7.13 · Pick 229 · Jadon Canady · CB · rank 214
Jadon Canady at the Round 7 slot is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
