The Buccaneers looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Mitchell Melton at slot 195 regardless, 207 picks early.
The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Canady value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
Tight end is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a mismatch in the passing game at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
They read the board right and Anthony Hill Jr. was the payoff at slot 46. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Malachi Lawrence at No. 77 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Nothing to complain about; De'Zhaun Stribling went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It fills a real need, too.
A slide stopped in Round 5, Pick 15, with Jakobe Thomas worth more than the price. It adds depth where they could use a little.
