You could see the war room lean forward. Eli Raridon at the 186th pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped safety, which is a strange place to end up. The Dunker reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with interior defensive lineman chief among the fixes. They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 5th overall pick they get a home-run threat at receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A reach on Gennings Dunker in the 37th pick; the board had better options right there. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A tidy bit of business in Round 4, Pick 5, where Bryce Lance graded well above the range. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Chris McClellan at slot 145 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They robbed the room for Eli Raridon here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Ar'maj Reed-Adams at pick No. 192 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
The board had Matt Gulbin higher than the Round 6 slot, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
