You could see the war room lean forward. Tre Harris at the 238th pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. No fireworks, but a solid B.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
The veteran additions, A.J. Brown chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not. Spend now, pay later; the math only works if this class delivers.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 4 they get an island corner. More want than need.
Tate Ratledge in pick 38 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It fills a real need, too.
Somehow Wyatt Milum was still sitting there in Round 3, Pick 5, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Jalen Royals at No. 77 is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Steal is underselling it; Josaiah Stewart at the Round 4 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Circle this one: Ashton Jeanty at the 143rd overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Quinshon Judkins in the 201st pick, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Lander Barton at slot 207 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Demetrius Knight Jr. in the 217th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
A linebacker of that caliber at Round 7, Pick 4 is the definition of value, full stop. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Tre Harris in pick No. 238 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
