When the story of this class is written, it opens with Khordae Sydnor at pick 242, a reach of 205 spots that the board flatly disagrees with. Call it a C+ and check back in two years.
However the rest shakes out, Davis at that price is a win they earned. They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it.
Quarterback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
It nets out as a middle-of-the-pack haul that neither helps nor hurts much.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 2 they get a green-dot type in the middle. Need was not the driver here.
In pick 16 they get a double-digit-sack hope at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Carson Beck at the 33rd overall pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Omar Cooper Jr. is a better player than the Round 2 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They did well to land Jalon Kilgore in No. 103, just ahead of his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Steal is underselling it; Tacario Davis at the 140th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They talked themselves into Vincent Anthony Jr. at the 179th pick, and the board did not agree. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Dalton Johnson at the 228th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
