Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Kaden Wetjen got past him. The Packers do not have to explain a thing at Round 7, Pick 39. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
They will need Barber to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes. They trusted the board more than the depth chart.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
They let Keith Abney II come to them and pounced at the 52nd pick. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They reached a country mile for Austin Barber at pick No. 84, and the board is aghast. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Kaleb Proctor in the Round 4 slot is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It fills a real need, too.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Malik Benson in slot 160. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
The board fumbled Febechi Nwaiwu all the way to Round 6, Pick 20, and they scooped it up. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Taking Harrison Wallace III in pick 236 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Kaden Wetjen at the 255th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
