Start where it matters. The Raiders took Fernando Mendoza to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Jones. They are betting Moss proves the room right and everyone else wrong. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 1 they get a franchise quarterback at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Taking Jermod McCoy in slot 36 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Josiah Trotter in the Round 3 slot. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Nothing to complain about; Ja'Kobi Lane went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
The board had cheaper options than Trey Zuhn III at Round 4, Pick 17, and it noticed. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Logan Jones at pick No. 134 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jalen Stroman. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They let Cyrus Allen come to them and pounced at the 185th overall pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They talked themselves into Miller Moss at the 208th pick, and the board did not agree. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
The board fumbled Kendrick Law all the way to the Round 7 slot, and they scooped it up. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
