Boards are made to be trusted, and the Saints shredded theirs for Jack Pyburn. He came off 93 spots early, and the room will hear about it.
Fitzgerald falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. The cornerback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
They paid sticker price for Keldric Faulk in the Round 1 slot, and that is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Germie Bernard at pick 42 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Good price on Dontay Corleone in slot 73, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Mikail Kamara at the 132nd pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They will replay Michael Trigg at pick No. 136 for years; that is how good the value is. A need, and now a little less of one.
The board fumbled Bishop Fitzgerald all the way to No. 150, and they scooped it up. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jalon Daniels well ahead of where he belonged. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Jack Pyburn in pick No. 190 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
