Start where it matters. The Commanders took Caleb Williams to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
The Gray reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. They will regret leaving wide receiver for another day if the season turns on it.
Tight end is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
Caleb Williams in pick No. 2 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Tyler Guyton at pick 36 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They jumped the gun on Jackson Powers-Johnson, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Christian Haynes in No. 67 is fair value, right on his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A wild overpay on Darius Robinson in Round 4, Pick 1, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It fills a real need, too.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Cedric Gray in the 103rd overall pick, miles early. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
No edge and no loss on Jaheim Bell in slot 138; it is a wash and a sensible one. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Frank Gore Jr. in the 181st pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The roster fit checks out.
They reached a country mile for Darius Muasau at Round 6, Pick 45, and the board is aghast. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
