The Cowboys' one glaring miss is wide receiver, a need they left exactly as they found it.
The Ford pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 24 they get a plug-and-play piece up front. The biggest hole, addressed.
No drama and no debate, Jaylen Wright went about where he belonged in the 56th overall pick. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Kingsley Suamataia in the Round 3 slot. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
James Williams at Round 5, Pick 38 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Joe Milton III at the 216th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
A linebacker of that caliber at pick 233 is the definition of value, full stop. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A quiet steal in the 244th pick: Ryan Watts for less than the market said. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
