The T.J. Sanders selection is the head-turner. The Cowboys reached 30 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
They will regret leaving cornerback for another day if the season turns on it. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
Adonai Mitchell at the Round 1 slot jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Edgerrin Cooper in Round 2, Pick 30 is fair value, right on his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They went early on Braelon Allen in the 93rd pick, and the value did not follow. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
No edge and no loss on James Williams in pick 130; it is a wash and a sensible one. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
T.J. Sanders at No. 174 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A need, and now a little less of one.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jason Henderson in the 212th overall pick, miles early. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Walter Rouse in slot 251 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
