The Nick Barrett selection is the head-turner. The Bills reached 62 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. A weekend of give and take that grades a C.
Landing Caldwell that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. For all the activity, safety went untouched, which is hard to explain.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with linebacker chief among the fixes.
It nets out as a middle-of-the-pack haul that neither helps nor hurts much.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 26th pick they get a true top target. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Domonique Orange in pick 88. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Jake Golday in the Round 3 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.

They liked Kaleb Elarms-Orr enough to skip the value, taking him in slot 165. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.

Taking Jeff Caldwell in pick No. 220 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
