The search is over. The Commanders handed the keys to Drake Maye, and the whole operation now runs on his development. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
Every board in the league had Bell lower, and that gap is the story. A whole weekend of picks and running back is somehow still a want.
Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 2 they get their quarterback of the future at fair value.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jordan Morgan. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Kamari Lassiter at Round 2, Pick 8 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Kingsley Suamataia in the Round 3 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Austin Booker at slot 78 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A clean, defensible pick in the 100th overall pick with a little surplus value in Malik Washington. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
No drama and no debate, Tommy Eichenberg went about where he belonged in No. 139. A minor itch, scratched.
They jumped the gun on Jaheim Bell, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
No edge and no loss on JD Bertrand in No. 222; it is a wash and a sensible one. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
