The rest of the league had time to spare on Tyler Shough; the Cowboys did not wait, grabbing him 190 spots ahead at slot 235. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
Getting Singleton where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. They will regret leaving tight end for another day if the season turns on it.
They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. The skill positions did well by the weekend.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 13 they get a go-to option on the outside at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Somehow Omarion Hampton was still sitting there in pick No. 44, and they pounced on premier running back value. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Alfred Collins at pick 84 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A linebacker of that caliber at the Round 5 slot is the definition of value, full stop. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Steal is underselling it; Lathan Ransom at the 168th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Nicholas Singleton in Round 5, Pick 33 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The roster fit checks out.
Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson at the 171st pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Value said wait; De'Corian Clark in slot 189 says they were not listening. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Addison West in pick 209 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A wild overpay on Tyler Shough in the 235th overall pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They reached a country mile for Aydan White at the Round 7 slot, and the board is aghast. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
