They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Turner Corcoran, 99 picks early at pick No. 235. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
The Skattebo pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. A small leak at the table, if not a fatal one.
They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 31 they get a wrecking ball inside. A real need, handled.
Dylan Fairchild slid further than he should have, and the 66th overall pick is lovely value for the offensive lineman. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They barely believed it either: Gunnar Helm still on the board at the Round 3 slot. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Tommi Hill at pick No. 132 is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Kevin Winston Jr. in Round 4, Pick 32 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Nick Nash at pick 161 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Cam Skattebo in the 202nd pick, plain and simple. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A wild overpay on Turner Corcoran in slot 235, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Jason Henderson at the 255th overall pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
