Las Vegas Raiders

The Raiders left with their quarterback, and a B- to match.

The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Raiders spent their marquee pick on Fernando Mendoza, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.

The tight end spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. On value alone, Roberts makes the weekend a net positive.

Reaching for Cameron left real value on the table behind him. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.1 · Pick 1 · Fernando Mendoza · QB · rank 4
In Round 1, Pick 1 they get the face of the franchise. A real need, handled.
R2.4 · Pick 36 · Chris Johnson · CB · rank 32
Nothing to complain about; Chris Johnson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R3.3 · Pick 67 · Jake Golday · OLB · rank 58
Value with a capital V on Jake Golday in pick No. 67, a genuine coup. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R4.2 · Pick 102 · Bud Clark · S · rank 99
Bud Clark in slot 102 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A minor itch, scratched.
R4.17 · Pick 117 · Mike Washington Jr. · RB · rank 116
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Mike Washington Jr.. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R4.34 · Pick 134 · J.C. Davis · OT · rank 134
J.C. Davis at the 134th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R5.35 · Pick 175 · Josh Cameron · WR · rank 183
A premium they did not need to pay, Josh Cameron a notch or two before his time. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R6.1 · Pick 182 · Kaleb Elarms-Orr · LB · rank 175
Fair-plus on Kaleb Elarms-Orr, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R6.4 · Pick 185 · Taylen Green · QB · rank 185
They paid sticker price for Taylen Green in the Round 6 slot, and that is fine. It fills a real need, too.
R6.27 · Pick 208 · Thaddeus Dixon · CB · rank 213
Thaddeus Dixon at the 208th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R7.3 · Pick 219 · Chase Roberts · WR · rank 207
A quiet steal in No. 219: Chase Roberts for less than the market said. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
