New England Patriots

The Patriots turned the phones into found money: A.

by Yves · 2025 NFL Draft · 13 picks · 8 steals · 4 reaches
Value B+
Need B
Trades A+
Future A+

The tape said wait; the Patriots did not. Jalen Rivers went at the Round 7 slot, a good 103 picks before the board was ready. Very little went wrong, and the A is earned.

Getting Giddens where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.

It is a haul that will look even better come September.

Pick-by-Pick

R2.5 · Pick 37 · Will Campbell · OT · rank 15
Taking Will Campbell in pick 37 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R2.6 · Pick 38 · Nick Emmanwori · S · rank 16
Circle this one: Nick Emmanwori at Round 2, Pick 6 is a fall that decides a draft. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R2.24 · Pick 56 · Shavon Revel Jr. · CB · rank 28
The board fumbled Shavon Revel Jr. all the way to the Round 2 slot, and they scooped it up. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
R3.5 · Pick 69 · Tyler Warren · TE · rank 44
They barely believed it either: Tyler Warren still on the board at No. 69. The roster fit checks out.
R3.13 · Pick 77 · Jalon Walker · LB · rank 24
Jalon Walker at the 77th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R3.24 · Pick 88 · Deone Walker · DT · rank 69
Deone Walker at pick No. 88 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R4.4 · Pick 105 · Emery Jones Jr. · OT · rank 176
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Emery Jones Jr. well ahead of where he belonged. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R5.6 · Pick 143 · Carson Schwesinger · LB · rank 136
Fair-plus on Carson Schwesinger, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
R6.37 · Pick 212 · Nick Nash · WR · rank 246
Nick Nash in the 212th pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R6.41 · Pick 216 · Seth McLaughlin · C · rank 206
A tidy bit of business in Round 6, Pick 41, where Seth McLaughlin graded well above the range. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R7.1 · Pick 217 · Jalen Rivers · OT · rank 320
They left a pile of value on the table to take Jalen Rivers this early at pick 217. It fills a real need, too.
R7.4 · Pick 220 · DJ Giddens · RB · rank 166
They will replay DJ Giddens at slot 220 for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R7.25 · Pick 241 · RJ Harvey · RB · rank 307
A big swing on RJ Harvey at No. 241, well ahead of any board in the building. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
