When the story of this class is written, it opens with Fabien Lovett at No. 158, a reach of 197 spots that the board flatly disagrees with.
Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. The Wilson steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
That tight end hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.
Hit on Johnny Wilson and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.
Pick-by-Pick
Johnny Wilson at the 95th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Aki Ogunbiyi at the Round 4 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Chau Smith-Wade. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A real head-scratcher, Fabien Lovett in Round 5, Pick 22 is miles ahead of his ranking. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
David Ugwoegbu at slot 172 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Where it fits the depth chart is the real question.
Caleb Okechukwu in the 177th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It fills a real need, too.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Caedan Wallace in No. 210, miles early. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Eyabi Okie-Anoma this early at pick 218. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A big swing on Jeremy James at pick No. 250, well ahead of any board in the building. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
