The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Cowboys watched Jonah Coleman slide 85 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
They will need Igbinosun to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 14th pick they get a bell-cow for the offense, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
You do not let a safety like Nick Emmanwori reach pick 45 and blink. They did not. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Alfred Collins at slot 76 is money in the bank, a interior defensive lineman taken below his worth. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Danny Stutsman in the 151st overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A big swing on Davison Igbinosun at the Round 5 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A offensive lineman of that caliber at No. 170 is the definition of value, full stop. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They will replay Oronde Gadsden II at Round 5, Pick 33 for years; that is how good the value is. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They barely believed it either: Smael Mondon Jr. still on the board at pick No. 189. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Miles Frazier at the 209th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Jonah Coleman at No. 248 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
