Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys cashed the board's mistake on Price: B+.

The Cowboys spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Jadarian Price, the No. 70 name on the board, in pick No. 112. A dependable weekend that grades out a B+.

Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. The Barham pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. Spending an early pick on edge rusher with quarterback and interior defensive lineman open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.

They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.24 · Pick 24 · Jermod McCoy · CB · rank 18
In pick 24 they get a press-man option on the boundary at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
R1.30 · Pick 30 · Zion Young · DE-EDGE · rank 44
In the 30th pick they get a premier pass rusher, reach and all.
R2.25 · Pick 57 · Anthony Hill Jr. · LB · rank 39
Anthony Hill Jr. in the Round 2 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R3.25 · Pick 89 · Jake Golday · OLB · rank 58
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending No. 89 on Jake Golday with quarterback and interior defensive lineman unsolved.
R3.28 · Pick 92 · Jaishawn Barham · LB-EDGE · rank 121
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Jaishawn Barham at edge rusher with quarterback and interior defensive lineman open.
R4.12 · Pick 112 · Jadarian Price · RB · rank 70
Jadarian Price in slot 112 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R5.12 · Pick 152 · Isaiah World · OT · rank 141
They read the board right and Isaiah World was the payoff at pick No. 152. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R5.37 · Pick 177 · Bryce Boettcher · LB · rank 167
The board had Bryce Boettcher higher than Round 5, Pick 37, and the linebacker fell to them anyway. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R5.40 · Pick 180 · Kevin Coleman Jr. · WR · rank 158
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Kevin Coleman Jr. in pick 180, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R6.15 · Pick 196 · Marlin Klein · TE · rank 173
You do not let a tight end like Marlin Klein reach the 196th pick and blink. They did not. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R7.2 · Pick 218 · Eric McAlister · WR · rank 190
Eric McAlister at No. 218 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
