The Kaleb Elarms-Orr selection is the head-turner. The Cowboys reached 52 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. No fireworks, but a solid B+.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. That Haulcy pick is the receipt they will wave around later. The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
They will answer for taking edge rusher early while quarterback, running back and other spots went begging.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a sticky cover corner at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They let Anthony Hill Jr. come to them and pounced at Round 2, Pick 15. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They robbed the room for A.J. Haulcy here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A wild overpay on Caden Curry in the 92nd pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A want over a need in the 112th overall pick: Mason Reiger adds an edge rusher while quarterback, running back and other spots keeps waiting.
Harold Perkins Jr. at No. 113 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
