The Cowboys went off the board in a big way for Caden Curry, 71 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. No fireworks, but a solid B.
Orange at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. With quarterback, running back and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on edge rusher is the choice that costs them.
That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a quarterback's worst nightmare, reach and all. More want than need.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jacob Rodriguez in pick No. 47, miles early. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They bypassed pressing needs at quarterback, running back and other spots to take Jake Golday, an edge rusher that was not the priority.

Zakee Wheatley at No. 89 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A straight-up fair deal on Treydan Stukes at the 92nd overall pick, value and slot in agreement. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Domonique Orange in pick No. 112 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The roster fit checks out.
They did well to land Aamil Wagner in Round 5, Pick 37, just ahead of his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They robbed the room for Aaron Anderson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Chase Roberts slid further than he should have, and the 218th pick is lovely value for the wide receiver. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
