You could see the war room lean forward. Josh Cameron at No. 218 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
Leaving offensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.
The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but offensive lineman.
Pick-by-Pick
Arvell Reese at pick 12 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
In slot 20 they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece. The biggest hole, addressed.
You do not let a safety like Kamari Ramsey reach the 92nd pick and blink. They did not. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Malik Muhammad in No. 112. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 152 with a little surplus value in Tim Keenan III. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Value with a capital V on Eric Rivers in Round 5, Pick 37, a genuine coup. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They took Red Murdock at par in the Round 5 slot, which is nothing to complain about. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They will replay Josh Cameron at the 218th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
