This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Malachi Fields, the No. 73 name on the board, stolen at the Round 3 slot. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. If Stroman pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. They went 2 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

In the 32nd overall pick they get the heartbeat of the defense, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A clean, defensible pick in Round 2, Pick 32 with a little surplus value in Zachariah Branch. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Malachi Fields at slot 96 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
