The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Cowboys reached some 88 spots for Thor Griffith, and value like that does not grow back. It lands right in the middle: a C+, no more, no less.
They banked enough surplus on Sanders to cover a lot of smaller sins. The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. The cornerback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Not a disaster, not a triumph, just a middling class.
Pick-by-Pick
A tidy little value on Tetairoa McMillan in No. 12, a step better than break-even. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Tyler Booker in pick No. 44 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
By-the-book stuff, Deontae Lawson at Round 3, Pick 12 squarely in line with his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Cam Skattebo in the 108th pick is fair value, right on his grade. The roster fit checks out.
They barely believed it either: Malachi Moore still on the board at the Round 5 slot. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Chris Paul Jr. in slot 168 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
CJ West in pick No. 170 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Tonka Hemingway well ahead of where he belonged. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Thor Griffith. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They robbed the room for Raheim Sanders here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Seth McLaughlin at the Round 7 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Brant Kuithe at pick 247 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
