Everything else got attention, and wide receiver got none. That is a strange way for the Cowboys to leave a draft.
The Beebe value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with cornerback the one that mattered most.
Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball. A fair-value weekend of trading, no edge to be found.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 24th pick they get a plug-and-play piece up front. The biggest hole, addressed.
Jonathon Brooks in slot 56 is fair value, right on his grade. It fills a real need, too.
Cooper Beebe in pick No. 87 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A clean, defensible pick in pick 91 with a little surplus value in Marist Liufau. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They took Trey Knox at par in Round 5, Pick 38, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They read the board right and Myles Jones was the payoff at No. 212. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Tatum Bethune at the Round 7 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
