Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Jawhar Jordan at pick No. 172 is 90 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. It washes out to a C, no better and no worse.
The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. They will regret leaving tight end for another day if the season turns on it.
On value alone, Trice makes the weekend a net positive.
In the end, one you will need a couple of seasons to truly judge.
Pick-by-Pick
They talked themselves into Xavier Legette at the Round 2 slot, and the board did not agree. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Bralen Trice in No. 64. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A tidy little value on Max Melton in the 95th overall pick, a step better than break-even. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Cedric Gray in pick 103 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It fills a real need, too.
No drama and no debate, Javon Foster went about where he belonged in Round 4, Pick 21. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
No edge and no loss on Beau Brade in slot 133; it is a wash and a sensible one. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They reached a country mile for Tahj Washington at pick No. 158, and the board is aghast. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Value said wait; Jawhar Jordan in slot 172 says they were not listening. The roster fit checks out.
