Thirty-one other rooms let Jack Kiser slide, and the Patriots were the ones holding the card at the Round 7 slot. Highway robbery. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
They will need Sanders to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 4 they get a true top target. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Value with a capital V on Kenneth Grant in the 38th overall pick, a genuine coup. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Steal is underselling it; Jalon Walker at slot 69 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Benjamin Morrison at the 77th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Donovan Jackson in pick 104 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A running back of that caliber at No. 152 is the definition of value, full stop. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Shilo Sanders at the Round 7 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They robbed the room for Trevor Etienne here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It fills a real need, too.
They will replay Jack Kiser at Round 7, Pick 22 for years; that is how good the value is. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
