The phones were a trap the Cowboys kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. Too much went sideways, and the D is the honest tally.
The whole projection now runs through Jayden Daniels; hit there and everything else looks smarter. They are betting Rosemy-Jacksaint proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
On value alone, Proctor makes the weekend a net positive.
A rough weekend that leaves the roster with more questions than answers.
Pick-by-Pick
Jayden Daniels in Round 1, Pick 9 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Troy Fautanu at the Round 2 slot is the proof. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
By-the-book stuff, T'Vondre Sweat at No. 56 squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Cooper Beebe at the 87th pick. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
No edge and no loss on DJ James in pick 108; it is a wash and a sensible one. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint at slot 123 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Cedric Gray at the 139th overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Isaiah Davis at pick No. 188 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The roster fit checks out.
Josh Proctor in slot 213 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Myles Harden well ahead of where he belonged. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They liked Trente Jones enough to skip the value, taking him in Round 7, Pick 22. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
