When a board-topper like Blake Fisher slides to Round 5, Pick 36, you do not overthink it, and the Eagles did not.
The Harrell reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. The trades bled value they could not afford to lose.
The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
In the end, a coin-flip class: fine today, with a wide range of outcomes ahead.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get juice off the edge, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Ennis Rakestraw Jr. at the 50th overall pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in Round 2, Pick 23 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Somehow Khyree Jackson was still sitting there in No. 120, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Tommy Eichenberg in pick 161 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Tykee Smith slipping to the 171st pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Blake Fisher in slot 172 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jaylen Harrell well ahead of where he belonged. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
