The Commanders spent the pick that matters most on Jayden Daniels, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape.
The Jefferson pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. For all the activity, wide receiver went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Jones. Adding Garrett Bradbury by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 11 they get the face of the franchise at fair value.
Amarius Mims is a better player than the 36th pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A premium they did not need to pay, Ja'Tavion Sanders a notch or two before his time. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Jordan Morgan slid further than he should have, and the 42nd overall pick is lovely value for the offensive lineman. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in the Round 3 slot. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A slide stopped in pick No. 100, with Mike Sainristil worth more than the price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A clean, defensible pick in slot 102 with a little surplus value in Tykee Smith. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jordan Jefferson. It fills a real need, too.
Curtis Jacobs at Round 6, Pick 6 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
They paid up for Nathaniel Watson at slot 223 when waiting would have done the job. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Steal is underselling it; Sheridan Jones at the 230th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
