Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Dani Dennis-Sutton at pick No. 26 is 57 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. Douglas falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
The tight end spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 26th pick they get a premier pass rusher, a steep price for the projection.
Dontay Corleone in Round 3, Pick 7 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Drew Allar in the 147th overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They barely believed it either: Caleb Douglas still on the board at slot 187. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A premium they did not need to pay, Keyshaun Elliott a notch or two before his time. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They went early on Robert Spears-Jennings in pick 223, and the value did not follow. A minor itch, scratched.
