They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Braden Fiske, 78 picks early at the Round 7 slot. One of the weekend's best, top to bottom, and a A- to show for it.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. That Ceaser pick is the receipt they will wave around later.
The veteran additions, Jordyn Brooks chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.
In the end it comes back to T'Vondre Sweat, and a haul good enough to build on right away.
Pick-by-Pick
They did well to land T'Vondre Sweat in pick 33, just ahead of his grade. The roster fit checks out.
No drama and no debate, Jordan Morgan went about where he belonged in No. 39. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A conviction pick on Amarius Mims at the Round 3 slot that the board grades a round light. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Payton Wilson at the 100th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They paid a round early for James Williams in pick No. 109, more than the board wanted. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Jason Marshall Jr. in Round 4, Pick 14 is fair value, right on his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Mike Sainristil in No. 144 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A wild overpay on Bryce Foster in Round 5, Pick 24, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They took Jaden Hicks at par in slot 185, which is nothing to complain about. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
They paid sticker price for Brevyn Spann-Ford in the 187th pick, and that is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jacob Cowing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Omar Speights at pick No. 214 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Nelson Ceaser is a better player than the 216th overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It fills a real need, too.
They reached a country mile for Braden Fiske at the Round 7 slot, and the board is aghast. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
