Thirty-one other rooms let Jacob Cowing slide, and the Commanders were the ones holding the card at pick No. 228. Highway robbery. Good, not great, and the B+ says as much.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. They punted on tight end, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Isaac pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
The Devin White pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 7 they get a potential shutdown corner. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They read the board right and Taliese Fuaga was the payoff at No. 36. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They jumped the gun on Cooper DeJean, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Amarius Mims in Round 3, Pick 7 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They reached into another round for Adisa Isaac, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Junior Colson at the Round 4 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
By-the-book stuff, Jaden Hicks at the 185th pick squarely in line with his ranking. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They robbed the room for Jacob Cowing here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
