Whoever sat across the table from the Commanders should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend.
Reaching for Beebe left real value on the table behind him. Spending an early pick on OLB-EDGE with wide receiver, cornerback and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Kinchens at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.
Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Olumuyiwa Fashanu and all.
Pick-by-Pick
R1.8
· Pick 8
· Olumuyiwa Fashanu
· OT
· rank 10
In pick 8 they get a long-term starter on the line at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R2.2
· Pick 34
· Troy Fautanu
· OT
· rank 29
A reasonable price with a little left over, Troy Fautanu in the 34th overall pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R2.4
· Pick 36
· Chop Robinson
· DE-EDGE
· rank 35
They took Chop Robinson at par in slot 36, which is nothing to complain about. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R2.8
· Pick 40
· Bralen Trice
· DE-EDGE
· rank 37
Nothing to complain about; Bralen Trice went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A need, and now a little less of one.
R2.11
· Pick 43
· Kamren Kinchens
· S
· rank 34
Kamren Kinchens in Round 2, Pick 11 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R2.15
· Pick 47
· Cooper Beebe
· OG
· rank 77
A wild overpay on Cooper Beebe in pick No. 47, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R3.3
· Pick 67
· Jeremiah Trotter Jr.
· LB
· rank 59
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at the 67th pick is the proof. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R3.37
· Pick 100
· Javon Solomon
· OLB-EDGE
· rank 108
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Javon Solomon adds an OLB-EDGE and leaves wide receiver, cornerback and other spots untouched.
R4.2
· Pick 102
· Audric Estime
· RB
· rank 98
Audric Estime in the Round 4 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. The roster fit checks out.
R5.3
· Pick 139
· Ben Sinnott
· TE
· rank 143
Ben Sinnott in pick 139 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R5.5
· Pick 141
· James Williams
· S
· rank 134
James Williams at No. 141 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
R6.6
· Pick 181
· Jared Wiley
· TE
· rank 205
A real head-scratcher, Jared Wiley in pick No. 181 is miles ahead of his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R7.3
· Pick 223
· Zion Logue
· DL
· rank 250
They talked themselves into Zion Logue at slot 223, and the board did not agree. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
