The Commanders did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Kyle Monangai fell into pick No. 250. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
The offense got the lion's share of the attention. They bet on numbers rather than a single high pick.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 32 they get a seam-stretching tight end, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
Marcus Mbow at Round 2, Pick 29 is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A top-tier running back at a bargain, TreVeyon Henderson in pick 79, plain and simple. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Denzel Burke slid further than he should have, and the Round 4 slot is lovely value for the cornerback. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They will replay Danny Stutsman at slot 129 for years; that is how good the value is. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Savion Williams in No. 132 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Billy Bowman Jr. in the 148th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
The board fumbled Cobee Bryant all the way to the 207th overall pick, and they scooped it up. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A linebacker of that caliber at the Round 7 slot is the definition of value, full stop. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Kyle Monangai at pick No. 250 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
