The real work happened on the phones. The Commanders fleeced their trade partners, turning their picks into a noticeably bigger pile than they started with.
The Coleman value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
It is a haul that will look even better come September.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 23rd overall pick they get a ballhawk on the outside. The biggest hole, addressed.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Tyler Guyton in pick No. 36. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Keon Coleman at Round 2, Pick 27 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Blake Corum at slot 86 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A tidy little value on Brenden Rice in the 103rd pick, a step better than break-even. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They did well to land Ben Sinnott in pick 138, just ahead of his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Sione Vaki is a better player than Round 6, Pick 6 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Tyrice Knight in the 220th overall pick. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
