The Commanders put a flag in the ground for Jaden Hicks, 44 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit.

With wide receiver, cornerback and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on defensive back is the choice that costs them. The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with tight end chief among the fixes.
