There is a lot to like until you notice tight end is still a hole. The Commanders never got to the one that mattered most. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
The Fuaga pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 7 they get a premier pass rusher. A real need, handled.
They took T.J. Tampa at par in Round 2, Pick 4, which is nothing to complain about. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
The board had Taliese Fuaga higher than the 39th pick, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Leonard Taylor III in the Round 3 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
No drama and no debate, Payton Wilson went about where he belonged in No. 100. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Kiran Amegadjie in pick 107 is fair value, right on his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They paid sticker price for Ty'Ron Hopper in slot 144, and that is fine. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
A straight-up fair deal on Jacob Cowing at the 185th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Jawhar Jordan is a better player than the 228th overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The roster fit checks out.
